Hello!
Wondering if you take volunteers in the summer? I am a elementary special education teacher and I also teaach adult and kids classes. being a teacher I have 3 months off in the summer and that would be the perfect time to volunteer.

You photos are beautiful and very moving! I would love to travel to Uganda to practice yoga and support women and children. My wish is to be able to travel in 2010 with OTM. Just figuring out the fundraising piece. What a wonderful way you are healing the world!

Hi Natalie,
I am truly inspired by your work, especially in Uganda. I too am a Doula, and aspire to be a traditional midwive. I would love to hear more about your work someday. I will check out the website. Thanks for your inspiration!

Profile Information

Why are you inspired to be of service in the world?
Unity has the power to change individuals, communities and the world from the inside out. My inspiration to serve comes from a deep desire to live and learn through conscious action, to cultivate peace where it has been lost and to support others on this path!
About Me:
Natalie Angell is passionate about peace, healing and the power of conscious change! She is a yoga teacher, doula and the co-founder of Heart Centre Yoga in Burnaby, BC. Natalie recently released her first CD-The Light Within: Guided Meditations For The Beginner And Beyond. She is a conscious birth advocate and leads birth education circles and rituals within the birthing community. Natalie continues to study the ways in which yoga, meditation and the expressive arts can be used as tools to help communities impacted by war and HIV or AIDS.

Natalie studied International Development Studies at York University and has worked with non profit organisations both in Canada and abroad. She is the co-founder and executive director of Shanti Uganda and spends part of each year living and working in Uganda. Natalie has a deep respect for grassroots women’s movements and their ability to both heal and empower communities throughout the world.

Tell us about any Seva Projects that you are already involved in...
I run an organisation in Uganda, East Africa. Shanti Uganda improves the physical, emotional and spiritual health of communities impacted by war, poverty and HIV or AIDS in Uganda. Through the use of yoga, expressive arts therapy, traditional healing and organic farming practices, we teach children ways to heal from the inside out. Our programs restore traditional birthing practices in rural communities through education and birth assistance and relieve poverty by supporting income generating initiatives for women with HIV and AIDS. www.shantiuganda.org
