Why are you inspired to be of service in the world?
Because it brings me exponential joy, calls in community and inspires more meaning and richness in everything that I do.
About Me:
Hala Khouri, M.A., has been teaching the movement arts for sixteen years. She is one of the co-creators of Off the Mat, Into the World. Her roots are in Ashtanga, Iyengar and Anusara yoga, dance, Capoeira, CORE energetics, and the juicy mystery of Life itself. Creative movement and honest self-exploration has always been a source of tremendous healing for Hala, and her calling to pass this on to others has been clear to her since she began teaching at the age of 16.
Hala earned her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Religion from Columbia University and has a Master's degree Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. She wrote her thesis on using yoga and other complementary disciplines such as eco-psychology and somatics for self-empowerment to inspire a global shift towards peaceful and sustainable living. She is currently working toward a Doctorate in Somatic Psychology at Santa Barbara Graduate institute.
She is also a graduate of the IM School of Healing Arts in New York City where she studied with Levent Bulokbasi the subtle art of energetic healing. She trained to teach yoga at YogaWorks in Santa Monica, CA.
Hala has taught yoga and the movement arts to a wide variety of people ranging from schizophrenics and at-risk youth to mommies and rock stars. Teaching is her absolute favorite thing to do! She currently lives in Santa Monica, California.

Hi Hala-
I just wanted to thank you for such an amazing week. I have to give you guys all the credit for helping me realize that I can teach yoga. I just taught my second class this morning and it just felt so right. I cant believe I was so anxious about it. I am so looking forward to the leadership training! Namaste- Dana
Hi Hala: What a great picture of you and the fam!! I am starting my training for a half-marathon this morning, then leaving for Hawaii and a 110 mile bike ride Monday. I hope you guys are doing well and DON'T FORGET, I am your free lawyer for life.
Hi Love...Sending love and support for this training. I got to connect with Brynne last night and she was all light about the training. Here's to youth of hope and promise!
Hi Hala. I met Sean at the mid-west conference and she told me that you were a person that I should know. I have been mothering my nephew for the last two years who lost his mom to an unjust conviction of murder in the first degree in the state of Michigan which translates to life without parole. I want to share yoga with so many people but right now I would love some guidence in the direction of sharing yoga with the prison system of female correction facilities in the state of Michigan. I work, teach, and mother an insane amount. Is there help for me? Misty Flahie
