Why are you inspired to be of service in the world?
I believe we need to BE the change. We have the tools, and now is the time. The world needs us. We need us. Now is the time. What else is there to do than be of service>

I am putting great effort into the Summer of Peace Initiative in the SF Bay Area. The Summer of Peace is an innovative initiative designed to accelerate the shift to a culture of peace through local collaborations, best practices,
grassroots activity, and inspirational events in the San Francisco Bay Area, which can then be replicated nationally and globally.
Imagine gathering the most inspirational peacemakers and the most effective peace‐building programs from around the world to light up Oakland & San Francisco in ways that create measurable reductions in crime, domestic violence, ecological violence, and other forms of conflict. Imagine whole cities making a commitment to peace that addresses the root causes of violence, harnesses the creativity of citizens and strengthens cross‐sector alliances. Imagine the passion of activism married with the pragmatism of science and the wisdom of spiritual practice, working in
concert with proven educational and grassroots programs and community self‐organization to create lasting change. Imagine the first phase of this initiative culminating with a series of dynamic summer events in 2010!
The Summer of Peace will set specific & bold goals for dramatic improvements in community health based, in part, on actual breakthroughs from peace‐building efforts in different fields. The Summer of Peace will initially unleash best practices from leading organizations and disciplines throughout the communities of Oakland & San Francisco. Our efforts will be researched and scientifically studied. Ultimately, we envision the Summer of Peace replicating and moving each year to new regions to foster a culture of peace from the grassroots up.
