Need Yoga Mats Donated for NY Covenant House
Inspired by my love of service & Yoga, I recently started volunteering to build & teach a Yoga program for homeless youth/young adults at the NYC transitional shelter, Covenant House. While I have about 7 mats of my own that I have donated, the program needs at least 10 to 20 more, although we will take any number since it all helps!! I will pay for any shipping that is necessary or if in the NY area, I can come and pick up :-) The program is soley run by volunteer (me) and has no funding. It is incredibly inspirational to watch the subtle and powerful shifts Yoga brings to the lives of these boys & girls. Not to mention what a gift it is just to teach them how to de-stress through simply breathing and taking time for relaxation in their high stress lives.
Covenant House provides food, shelter, clothing and immediate crisis care, as well as a variety of other services to homeless, runaway and throwaway youth including medical care, educational and vocational programs, drug abuse treatment and prevention programs, legal aid services, recreation programs, mother/child programs, transitional living programs, life-skills training and street outreach.
