You have not provided enough information for me to make up my mind. If the research was all yours, and the help you got was only with editing your writing, then that is probably o.k. If someone else literally wrote a dissertation for you, that clearly violates the academic requirements for a dissertation. I don't think there is much middle ground or too many grey areas here. Either you did all of the required work yourself, or someone else did. The dissertation is your proof to the academic community that you can work at an independent level. From a Yogic perspective, using someone elses work as your own violates the principle of nonstealing. One question you may ask yourself is whether you did what you did with the full knowledge of your dissertation committee. If not, did you hide it from them? What would happen if you told them? It would be better that this issue is covered openly with your dissertation chair before the defense. I hope this helps.
